🌿 Our team in Brussels led by Patrice Viaene has advised longstanding client Elia, Belgium's electricity TSO, with the award of three critical construction contracts for the world's first energy island known as Princess Elisabeth Island. We are advising Elia on the development and construction of the Princess Elisabeth Island which will be built some 45 kilometers of the Belgian coast to connect 3.5 GW of additional offshore wind capacity while also serving as a hub for future interconnectors with neighboring countries. The successful award of 3 critical EPCI construction contracts marks another crucial milestone for the project, which is at forefront of Europe's energy transition and the delivery of green electricity to about 3.5 million Belgian households. A cross practice team in Brussels led by Henri d'Ursel including real estate, finance and tax has assisted Penta Infra with the acquisition of DC Green BV, the company that owns the newly built, sustainable-by-design and state of the art Nexus Data Centre. The Nexus Data Centre comprises 10,000 sqm GLA in a beautifully designed building. It is located in the immediate vicinity of Brussels and the medical campus and hospital of the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel). The data centre was developed by Ghelamco and has recently opened.
