🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Dr. John Seel, Distinguished Engineer for Data Sciences at NSWCDD, recently had the opportunity to join a panel and speak with NextGov/FCW about the revolutionary impact of bringing artificial intelligence (AI) to the edge. NextGov/FCW connects the federal IT community online, in print, and through a wide range of face-to-face events. "NSWCDD and the Navy are working to provide edge solutions that increase the commander's ability to make decisions with the right information, at the right point in time, under the harshest conditions," said Seel. Seel shared key insights on: 🔹 Enhancing Operations with AI: AI is crucial for the future operations and is the most critical capability we can leverage. 🔹 Deploying AI at the Edge: Systems need to identify and report new anomalies while managing the environment intelligently. 🔹 AI Workforce Snapshot: Today's workforce is different compared to the workforce of five years ago. 💡ATTENTION! Innovation in action Interns from the Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) took part in a rapid prototyping event at NSWCDD’s Innovation Lab. Their mission? To develop a low-cost, adaptable and warfighter-friendly threat emitter prototype. With guidance from subject matter experts, these talented students—chosen for their academic achievements, personal statements, recommendations and research interests—skillfully integrated electronic circuits, programming software and 3D design to create a functional prototype. We're proud to announce that their hard work paid off! They successfully tested their prototype in an anechoic test chamber. Kudos to these young innovators for their determination and creativity. Colonial Beach Mayor Robin Schick hosted the event and Dale Sisson Jr., Technical Director, NSWCDD and Capt. Joe Oravec, Commanding Officer, NSWCDD spoke to the gathering of community leaders from Virginia and Maryland. Daniel Ross, Division Head, Test and Evaluation, NSWCDD presented an overview of the Potomac River Test Range.
