'Why I Serve Wednesday!' ⚓️ We are #PCDproud of our Panama City military service members and excited to highlight some of them in our new spotlight and why they answered our nation's call. Today, we feature Hospital Corpsman Second Class (HM2) Nicholas Haburchak supporting Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division as a qualified enlisted expeditionary warfare diver. “I was born and raised in Nebraska and I enlisted in 2017. I joined the US Navy to follow in my father’s footsteps—who served as a quarter master second class—and to see the world. After completing Hospital Corpsman A-School in San Antonio, Texas, I was stationed at U.S. Naval Hospital Sigonella, Italy, for two years. [I later] completed Navy Dive School in 2020 and, post-graduation, I completed a three-year tour [with] SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) Team Two, Little Creek, Va., and [am] currently stationed at NSWC PCD. As a deep sea diving medical technician, I am solely in charge of the health and welfare of the dive locker and civilian divers attached to the SDV. What I enjoy most about my job is the people I get to work with and the diving we do. I decided to become a hospital corpsman because of my passion for medicine and I also wanted a skillset I could continue to use once I complete my military service. Another skillset I have is a favorite hobby of mine. I enjoy leatherworking and have crafted multiple custom belts and koozies.” **Hospital corpsmen provide direct support to Navy and Marine Corps commands, squadrons, battalions and units. They deploy in support of combat operations, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance missions, providing the best care our nation can offer ashore and afloat. #NSWCPCD #DominateTheLittorals #NAVSEA

'Why I Serve Wednesday!' 🇺🇸 We are #PCDproud of our Panama City military service members and excited to highlight some of them in our new spotlight and why they answered our nation's call. Today, we feature Chief Master Sergeant Christopher Miller, Air National Guard, supporting Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) through the Personnel Force Innovation program. "I have served as the Government Lead Unified Helpdesk for the past three years at NSWC PCD. I am originally from New Jersey but moved to Southeast Georgia when I was nine years old, and lived there until I joined the United States Marine Corps. I originally joined the Marine Corps straight out of high school because I wanted a challenge. I got out of the Marines after four years. After the events of Sept. 11, 2001, many of my friends were recalled and I felt I should volunteer. I believed I had more to give in my military service. I ran into a high school friend, and he told me he recently joined an Air National Guard unit that had a lot of prior service members, and it seemed like a great fit. When I joined the Marine Corps, I was trained as an Electro-Optical Ordnance repair technician. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California and did a six-month deployment on board the USS Comstock. When I enlisted in the Air National Guard, I went to school to be a Radio Frequency Transmission Technician (RFTS). During my time as a RFTS I directly supported Hurricane Katrina relief, the G8 summit on Sea Island, Ga., and countless training exercises. During my time as the Mission Support Group First Sergeant at 116th Maintenance Squadron, 116th Air Control Wing in Georgia I deployed three times, twice to United States Central Command and once to United States Indo-Pacific Command. I have also served as a member of the Georgia National Guard Counterdrug Taskforce as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst working for civilian law enforcement. Most recently, I was hired as the 165th Mission Support Group Senior Enlisted Leader, which is my current military position. Before beginning my tour at NSWC PCD, I served a tour at First Air Force (AFNORTH) at Tyndall Air Force Base. I will retire from the military after twenty-five years of service next month. Something people may not know about me is I am an avid Golden Tee (golf video game) player and have been since 1999. I am passionate about teaching firearms safety and hope to do this more in retirement. I also love to bake with my wife and daughters, and I make a mean pot of chili." #NSWCPCD #DominateTheLittorals #PCDproud #PFI #WhyIServeWednesday
