After just 15 days in the U.S., Anna visited the WayPoint Center at Centro de San Juan Diego, alone and without support. Despite having a sponsor, her situation was tough. The WayPoint Coordinator reassured her and connected her with community resources, including medical assistance, legal help, and support for domestic violence. Grateful, Anna called the Coordinator her angel. Pride Month may be coming to an end, but the celebrations continue! The Kentucky Black Pride Festival is September 13-17, 2024. The festival includes a variety of exciting events: -Gala & Award Night -Pride in the Park at Woodland Park -After Pride Party -Sunday Gospel Brunch The Pride in the Park Festival kicks off at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 14. We are proud to say that our WayPoint Coordinator, Shawn Ka’Ron Bumpase, is the chairman and founder of Kentucky Black Pride. Recognizing the lack of opportunities and representation for people of color at the local Pride Festival, Shawn took the initiative to establish this program in 2016. His goal was to foster unity, self-awareness, and positive visibility for the younger generation within their community. For more information about the festival or Kentucky Black Pride, please contact kentuckyblackpride@gmail.com. #UWBG #PrideMonth #KentuckyBlackPride #LiveUnited #ShareTheLex #LexKY

Vonda, one of our dedicated 211 navigators, recently helped a high school student in rural eastern Kentucky find a SAFE SPACE support group and vital resources for his family. We’re so grateful to our friends at First 5 Lex and Fayette County Public Schools (KY) for installing the new Read to Me Library at the Marksbury Family WayPoint Center! The First 5 Lex crew will keep this library stocked with new books for our youngest guests to read and take home with them. They have everything from “Don’t Let Pigeon Drive the Bus” to “Goodnight Moon” and a variety of books in Spanish as well. Thanks for your continued partnership! We know our kids will love this new addition📚 #bettertogether #LiveUnited #partners #readersareleaders #littlelibrary
