“I reported directly to Chad for most of my five years at Lime. In that time he was a supportive manager, a discerning mentor, and a trusted friend. Chad understands that the biggest assets any technology firm has are its people and culture, and that once those factors are perfected, success is inevitable. Chad understands that a manager's success is 100% contingent on the success of every member of his team, and, as such, he leads with humility and compassion. Chad instinctively grasps human side of management: I benefited personally and professionally from building trust and discussing with him the problems (and successes!) I was facing in life and at work. Beyond all this, Chad's technical acumen is top class. He was a great mentor to me in the area of system and software architecture. He encourages rigorous use of modularity, abstraction, configurability, and transparency from a high-level architectural standpoint down to individual implementation details. Beyond his ability to design large-scale software products, he also can build an enterprise data center from scratch. This rare combination of expertise, along with a constant awareness of the economics of his decisions, made him well prepared to be the CTO at Lime. Most importantly, Chad taught me the difference between a software project and a software product. He and I worked at Lime to build out Lime's Technical Support team and Lime's Professional Services initiative. A software product is more than a piece of functional code; it is supportable, monitorable, testable, documented, auditable, upgradeable, stable, and reliable. I enjoyed my time working with Chad immensely, and I'm sure I will work with him again in the future.”
