About us

We are committed to doing our part in helping society meet the dual challenge of meeting the world’s growing demand for energy while reducing environmental impacts and the risks of climate change. As an important supplier of oil and gas, a major refiner of crude oil for fuels and lubricants, and one of Europe's leading petrochemical companies, employing over 14,000 people across Europe, we have been helping to meet energy demand in Europe for over a century through our main commercial brands: Esso, Mobil and Mobil1. We are committed to addressing the key challenge of energy development in Europe — developing affordable and secure supplies of energy in a safe and environmental responsible manner while maintaining EU competitiveness. Our products are marketed through a network of service stations, and also to commercial segments, such as aviation, industrial and wholesale, equipment manufacturers, and marine.

Being active has many health benefits – and so does knowing when to take a break. That is why the Safety, Security, Health and Environment committee at our Brussels office decided to organize guided walks around our campus once a week during the summer months. It’s an excellent opportunity to get to know colleagues from other departments while getting exercise and fresh air. We encourage employees to join and stretch their legs, refresh their minds, and enjoy the outdoors (when the Belgian weather allows it!). #wellbeing #weareexxonmobil

This week, the European Parliament is holding its first plenary session of the new legislative term. Congratulations to all elected MEPs, and to Roberta Metsola for her reelection as European Parliament President. After a busy election season, MEPs will now start working to carry out the mandate of the 150 million European voters that made their voices heard at the polls last month. Three members of our EU Affairs team, Elena Podariu, Yann Le Tallec, and Antonella Sopranzetti (pictured), are on the ground in Strasbourg and ready to share ExxonMobil’s expertise on #hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (#CCS), lower-emission fuels and the circular economy. Policy plays a key role in making Europe attractive for these projects and technologies that are needed to help advance the energy transition. At ExxonMobil, we believe in contributing to an open, honest, and constructive dialogue to find solutions to shared challenges. We look forward to engaging with all stakeholders over the next legislative term.

💡 Collaboration among governments and companies is key to accelerating the energy transition. Events like this one hosted by the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union are a great opportunity for industry to have ongoing and active dialogue with policymakers.   #Hydrogen produces zero greenhouse gas emissions at its point of use and is suitable for power-generation, trucking, and heat-intensive industries like steel and cement. Scaling up production of this low-carbon fuel will require a clear and consistent policy framework that recognizes the role of all forms of low carbon hydrogen. 🔵 Blue hydrogen, in particular, can help scale up this technology. This is because it is significantly less expensive to produce, while showing no significant difference in emissions intensity compared to green hydrogen.   Learn more about our work in hydrogen here: https://lnkd.in/d7KgBbrX

Ready for the Future of Low-Carbon #Hydrogen in Europe? At today’s Hungarian Presidency Workshop, IOGP Europe's Senior Policy Officer Gaetana Manganiello highlighted the importance of a clear and practical regulatory framework and strong investments in low-carbon hydrogen.     Gaetana Manganiello, in collaboration with Eurogas, lead and established an informal coalition and presented the joint recommendations developed with 12 other associations 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQ86HWv3 She shared key recommendations to support #lowcarbonhydrogen development: 🔸 Enable and reward industries using low-carbon hydrogen as a pathway to decarbonization;  🔸 Ensure consistency across all types of fuels, promoting a technology-neutral approach;  🔸 Reward innovations that reduce carbon intensities in the natural gas supply chain, as opposed to relying on fixed carbon intensity values;  🔸 Recognize the importance of carbon capture and storage (#CCS), including outside the EU;  🔸 Provide investors with certainty that the 70% threshold for #GHG savings will apply for the project’s lifetime.    For an in-depth look at IOGP Europe’s recommendations, click here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eynQ9isE   Special thanks to the other speakers for their valuable contributions:    Victor Bernabeu, Eurogas || Nicolai Romanowski, Cefic || Daniel Fraile, Hydrogen Europe || Rafik A., Methanol Institute || Guilherme Cardoso, nucleareurope ||  Jean-Marie MIZZI, FuelsEurope  ------------------------------------------------------ 🛢 We are the European voice of the oil and gas industry. 📰 Interested in data, policy positions, discussions, trends, events, and more? 🔔 Give us a follow and ring it on our profile.

Our colleagues Yelda Guven and Marie-Laure Halleman from ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions recently spoke at the Global Energy Transition Congress and Exhibition in Milan. This event brought together a range of actors from across the energy value chain and industries to share tangible, scalable and pragmatic approaches to accelerate the energy transition. Yelda spoke at a panel on “climate change regulation without borders”, where she addressed the global landscape in energy, the different approaches to regulation around the globe, and the importance of reducing the cost of the energy transition on consumers. At a separate panel, titled “Insights from the forefront: business leaders at the helm of energy transition ventures”, Marie-Laure discussed the impact of policies on scaling up hydrogen in the EU. Some takeaways: 🌍 There is global competition for capital to support decarbonization around the world. 📈 Incentives are needed to attract investment and so is clarity in policies. 📈 Governments cannot afford to subsidize the energy transition forever. Ultimately, the world must move towards market-based mechanisms. 🌍 Enabling cross-border transportation and storage of CO2 through mutual framework recognition, including with the UK, is key to achieving EU objectives. 📚 EU energy-intensive and trade-exposed industries need effective and sustained carbon leakage protection. 📚 Policies should be technology-neutral and recognize all forms of low-carbon hydrogen. 💡 Collaboration across the value chain, but also with governments and researchers, is key for the energy transition.   Find out more about our Low-Carbon Solutions business: https://lnkd.in/gVe4-M8k #GETcongress #Decarbonisation #NetZero

This year marked a special milestone – the 15th anniversary of the Sci-Tech Challenge, our flagship science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programme in partnership with JA Europe. The challenge invites secondary school students across Europe to put their STEM skills to use and propose solutions to real-life challenges. This year, teams pitched their ideas to utilize lower emissions technologies to pave the way towards the energy transition. 💡     Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is considered one of the critical technologies required to achieve net-zero and meet the climate goals outlined in the Paris Agreement. 📝   Supportive policies are needed to spur the investment required to deploy #CCS at pace and at scale. We recently signed the “Oslo declaration on low carbon value chains” which was handed over to Belgian policymakers during the Belgian Economic Mission to Norway. It outlines five key policy actions to support the deployment of low carbon value chains in Belgium, focusing on decreasing undue complexity and regulatory burden, supporting a technology-neutral and market-based approach, flexible energy availability and cross-border CO2 infrastructure in the North Sea. In Europe, we are considering several CCS opportunities, including in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and the UK. Scaling up CCS investment in Europe requires collaborative efforts and market-based, technology-neutral policies. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dEq8gqdD #OsloDeclaration
