The Thorncliffe Park Youth Wellness Hub celebrates its first birthday today! 🎉 On this day last year, we marked the grand opening with a ribbon cutting alongside our partner organizations and Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO). This hub, located in the heart of Thorncliffe Park, provides free drop-in mental health and wellness services to youth aged 12-25. MGH is proud to be one of seven organizations providing services at this site 💚

Don’t forget to look ⬆️ the next time you’re in our Paediatrics Department or Child and Youth Emergency Zone! 👀 The ceiling tiles in these areas are decorated with fun paintings and collages – all done by talented young patients in our Paediatrics area. The art makes these spaces more welcoming for the families we serve – and they’re a great positive distraction for kids! Designing the tiles also serves as a therapeutic activity for our young patients and some of them get volunteer hours for this helpful service. We hope the tiles bring some joy to your day and make your hospital visit a little brighter. 💚

This summer, we celebrated more than 300 healthcare and administrative professionals who are marking career milestones at MGH! This demonstrates their longstanding commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to our East Toronto community. Frehiwot Gebregziabher, Registered Nurse, Home Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Service, is celebrating 20 years at MGH. “MGH feels like my second home. I started my career here as a new grad and worked in several units in the hospital, including Complex Continuing Care, Palliative Care, Renal Care and our Cardiac Intensive Unit before applying for the Home PD Program. The staff and managers were all so nice and I bonded with them. I’ve never considered working anywhere else. This is my community hospital! I think it’s the environment that makes me want to stay here. It’s who I work with, how I work with them and the fact that I enjoy coming here.” Congratulations, Frehiwot, and thank you for your outstanding dedication and contributions to MGH!
