I am thrilled to share that I have joined SurfaceAI as the new Chief Sales Officer. For more than a decade I’ve been passionate about solving the challenges multifamily operators, owners, and residents encounter as technology evolves. Joining Surface feels like the perfect next step. The company's mission to transform property management with modern technology resonates deeply with the evolution I see in this space.  The opportunity to apply emerging generative AI technologies to property management is not just exciting; it's revolutionary. With over 100 million Americans living in apartment communities, the need for modern, user-led, integration-rich, and AI-native systems is clear. I'm eager to contribute to building solutions that empower property management teams to thrive. I'm also looking forward to working with Jason Wallis, Surface's CEO, and working alongside the incredibly talented team he’s assembled. I am incredibly excited to announce that I recently joined SurfaceAI as CTO! For over 20 years my career has focused on delivering customer value with leading-edge technology and world-class teams. Through the web 2.0, mobile, SaaS, “headless”, and AI revolutions, I have built successful products and organizations at both nimble startups and leading enterprises that capitalized on these truly disruptive moments. I am especially proud of launching the world’s first API-first SaaS commerce platform, Kibo, and unifying and scaling Adobe Experience Cloud’s Developer ecosystem by introducing the Adobe Developer’s Live Conference series and the Adobe Developer App Builder platform and ecosystem. SurfaceAI recognized early that the opportunity space to apply emerging generative AI technologies to property management is staggering. Over 100 million Americans (35% of all families) live in apartment communities. To run smoothly, these communities depend on onsite teams (including property managers, community managers, and maintenance technicians) - folks who take pride in providing an excellent experience for their residents. Yet today it’s far too hard for onsite teams to do that, partly because they have to use technology that in general falls into two categories: old and cumbersome, or new, narrowly focused, and poorly integrated into the ecosystem. While there are some fantastic legacy technology companies in this space, we believe (and our early customers and investors have validated strongly) that there is a strong need for modern, user-led, integration-rich, and AI-native systems to help property management teams thrive. I’m also thrilled to join forces again with Jason Wallis, SurfaceAI CEO, as well as with the rest of the incredibly talented Surface team on this exciting journey! 🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 I’m thrilled to bring my new startup, SurfaceAI, out of stealth mode! I founded Surface last year in partnership with Stackpoint Ventures; we’ve been hard at work since then partnering with some of the largest customers in our space to design and develop a product that will, using GenAI, solve some of the industry’s longstanding problems in ways that would not have been possible even a year ago. With enthusiastic design partners and strong product-market fit signals, now is the time to throw off the covers and begin hiring to scale the team beyond the Stackpoint Ventures team at my side today. After months of user and field research, prototype builds, and guidance from industry veterans and insiders, we are well underway with the MVP build. For those unfamiliar with the multifamily (a.k.a. apartment) technology space… it’s huge.
