Summer has been an incredible season filled with wonderful events hosted by our amazing community partners! We had the pleasure of tabling at the 3rd Annual CNI “Jump Into Summer” Safety & Health Resource Fair and Wadsworth Day hosted by Council Member Anthony Phillips. We appreciate the opportunity to share our resources with the community, including how individuals can become Resource/Foster Parents. A big thank you to everyone who came out!

About us
"We help children and their families do better today, so that we all do better tomorrow." Founded in 1853, our mission at Northern Children's Services is to support the healthy development of children, while stabilizing their families to build stronger communities. Everything we do at Northern Children’s Services is designed to ensure a more promising future for children and is driven by our belief that every child possesses inherent value, potential, and the ability to transform him or herself – regardless of his or her background or life circumstances. If we invest in that potential through child welfare and behavioral health services that emphasize safety, health, permanency, self-sufficiency and positive relationships, then the children will lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives and contribute to society in meaningful ways. Learn more about what we do at Northern Children's Services by visiting www.northernchildren.org.

Happy Juneteenth! Did you know that the bursting star outline around the central star on the Juneteenth Flag is inspired by a nova, symbolizing a new star and a new beginning? It represents the hope and promise of a fresh start for African Americans in Galveston and across the nation. The curve spanning the flag signifies a new horizon, brimming with opportunities and potential for black Americans. This meaningful flag, conceptualized by activist Ben Haith in 1997 and brought to life by Boston-based illustrator Lisa Jeanne Graf, stands as a powerful symbol of resilience and progress. Let's celebrate this day of freedom and continue striving for equality and justice for all.

We're bursting with pride for the incredible young students from Gratz High School, Gratz Middle School, and Saul High School who've completed Northern's Early Intervention (EI) program! Their dedication shine brightly as they mark the end of this journey. We honored their achievements with an Appreciation Ceremony. Let's continue to support and uplift these remarkable girls as they embark on their next chapters!
