  • ▶Mentoring Matters! Please help us to spread the word about the ACS Canberra Mentoring Program. We are calling ACS Canberra Members to become a mentor or mentee for the next round of the six-month ACS Canberra Mentoring Program (Aug 2024 - Jan 2025). *Application closes on 15 July 2024. We especially need more mentors. The mentoring relationship is a valuable learning and development partnership between someone with experience and someone who wants to learn. It is time to share your experience, listen, and understand how others can harness your expertise and experience, helping reduce risk, increase empathy, and share knowledge. Of course, respect is essential for both participants. Some feedback from our previous Program Mentors: ◾The opportunity to support professional women in their career.” ◾The ability to connect with more than just my mentee; we got to interact with everyone in the program multiple times. ◾Rochelle is very proactive and engaging and always provides me valuable inputs.” Some feedback from our previous Program Mentees: ◾I like your effort to manually match the participants. It’s a lot of work, but I’m always glad that I can be matched with great mentors. ◾The program helped me change my perspective and look further into my career. ◾The mentor you selected for me. Amanda was amazing! If you are interested in being a Mentor or Mentee, please complete the Mentoring Application form (Link below). Once we receive your application, you will be invited to participate in an information session for mentors or mentees before the program launches. 👉Submit your application now or contact Jenalle.Bushby@acs.org.au if you have any questions: https://lnkd.in/gkhQtyTh #ACSCanberraMentoring #MentoringMatters #ACSNewsfeed #ACSMembersHelpMembers

👏Started in 2020, the Men of Business (MOB) Academy mission is to work with at risk youth to give them a positive future with an alternative pathway to a career. Most of the boys enter the trades and very few have the resources at home to develop their tech skills. MOB joined the ACS ICT GISP in 2022 and under founder Marco Renai (2024 Australian of the Year for Queensland), have welcomed the engagement from the southeast Queensland tech community, with considerable support from ACS members. ▶ In 2023 and 2024, MOB have been supported by ACS, employees, members and leaders including:  · Beau Tydd (past Qld BEC chair) · Mat Eames (past Gold Coast Chapter Chair, current Qld BEC Chair) · Paul Walters (current Gold Coast Chapter Chair) · David Rudduck, CEO of Solis (Australia) · Pablo Farias, CEO and Founder of Zenva Academy · Ann Stevens, Assoc. Lecturer at TAFE Qld and XR Consultant at Imagine Realities · Matthew Jorgensen, Education Pathways and Partnerships Manager at ACS MOB Head of Pathways, Nathan Antonik shared ‘Please never underestimate the impact you have had on these young men over a short amount of time.’ 👉For more information about ACS student-based programs contact Matthew at Matthew.Jorgensen@acs.org.au or follow the link https://lnkd.in/gDEeQy3X Image: Men of Business Head of Pathways Nathan Antonik with Tech Tester participants at Gilmour Space

  • Last Friday, ACS attended the 80th anniversary gala of the Liberal Party in Sydney. ACS was represented by Senior members – Cindy Chung, NSW BEC Chair and Murali Sagi, Chair, ACS NSW Fellow Committee as well as our Corporate Affairs and Public Policy team. Our table was hosted by Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham – Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and Leader of the Opposition in Senate. ACS works closely with both major parties, attending the gala gave ACS the opportunity to speak with senior Shadow Ministers including Senator Birmingham, among many others, to discuss our policy ideas especially on AI and Cyber. Senator Birmingham thanked ACS for their sponsorship on the evening. Cindy and Murali were also able to meet with the Hon The Hon. Peter Dutton MP Leader of the Opposition and were able to have a conversation regarding ACS and how we can assist with policy development. We look forward to continuing to work with all sides of politics throughout 2024. #ICT #ICTSector #CyberSecurity #AI #PublicPolicy
