It is utmost important to gear up the culture that fosters creative risk taking. On top of this, one simple mind set change is needed depending on the stage the company is in. Mindset while creating products for startups at different stages need different risk appetite- clearly calling that out with an example with the team tells them their playing field. Eg. A zero to one startup needs a working product which may need replacement next week, month or year but only if market fit is assured. Similarly, a 1 to 10 stage startup needs something that can be replicated or extended but can be changed/ scrapped after a quarter if it outlives its purpose etc. Visibility on the expected lifetime of the products enables educated risk taking.
