#InfosysFoundation understands the importance of educating women and children about their physical #health and well-being. Many of our initiatives and programs are centered around children’s health. One such initiative is the SWADHYAY program, by Infosys Foundation and the eVidyalokaTrust. The main objective is to set up digital classrooms and teach-through-television programs. With the aim of imparting knowledge about healthy lifestyle practices, school students were encouraged to participate in a #yoga session on June 21st, International Day of Yoga. Following this year’s theme of “Yoga for Self and Society”, a total of 649 students diligently participated across 39 schools in Karnataka. The students performed Surya Namaskar, Pranayama exercises, and other yoga asanas, under the guidance of Ms. Anasuya Puranik, a volunteer teacher from the eVidyalokaTrust. The most unique aspect about this yoga session, was that it was conducted virtually, as their teacher was located in the United States. This yoga session was an example of how digital classrooms were used to educate children about their health, for their holistic development, and how their learning is not restricted to their school curriculum. The session was held to help students relax and rejuvenate and motivate them to inculcate healthy practices into their daily life, for their overall development.
