We’re proud to share a short film featuring highlights from our recent gathering in Washington, D.C. Together with Wild Earth Allies Board members, Ambassadors, supporters, and colleagues, we honored the extraordinary work of our long-time partners Augustin K. Basabose, MICHAEL Baraka NYAKABEJI, Eugene Rutagarama, and Joelle Rutagarama. Board member Mohamed Bakarr moderated a lively conversation with these distinguished panelists from the DRC and Rwanda. In Mohamed’s words, “Their leadership and their locally led actions are what’s going to drive the kind of change that we’re looking for at the planetary scale.” Watch the film and join us in celebrating these conservation leaders! Protecting Our Natural World, Together
About us
Wild Earth Allies’ mission is to protect vital areas of our natural world for the benefit of wildlife, habitats, and people by inspiring collaborative action. Together with our field partners, we focus on locally-led actions to protect wildlife and habitats in ways that improve human well-being. We have built a solid track record of success over decades. Today, our community-based conservation efforts make a lasting, positive impact across more than 3 million acres of priority terrestrial and marine ecosystems globally. Our greatest strength is our people. We join forces with accomplished local practitioners to turn the tide of biodiversity and habitat loss in critical areas around the world. We engage in collaborative program design, implementation, and shared learning to maximize positive outcomes for wildlife, habitats, and people. Wild Earth Allies is built on important values—optimism, cultural respect, shared learning, and integrity. We select our initiatives based on the most pressing needs and genuine opportunities to catalyze change in culturally appropriate ways. Our lean structure allows donor support to quickly reach the field to benefit wildlife, habitats, and people. We have earned top nonprofit rankings from Charity Navigator for over a decade and the highest level of recognition by Candid (formerly GuideStar), the Platinum Seal of Transparency.

From degraded lands to a thriving forest 🌳 We're excited to share an update on nature’s resilience in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Six years ago, our partner Primate Expertise (PEx) and community members planted seedlings from the Ape Trees™ project in degraded areas around Kahuzi-Biega National Park. Today, these trees have transformed the area into a small forest. Even more exciting, the PEx team has observed wildlife returning to this newly planted forest, highlighting the success of restoration efforts. This demonstration field in Maziba village has become a symbol of hope for the community. Their efforts show how a small area can make a big impact on people and nature, inspiring other communities and the next generation. 🌍✨ 📷: Primate Expertise #Reforestation #HabitatRestoration

Exciting progress is underway at the Silk Grass Wildlife Preserve in Belize to advance our country-wide inventory of tree species. Special thanks to Mandy Cabot, Peter Kjellerup, and the entire Silk Grass team for their dedication to the Trees of Belize project! Discover more about our botanical exploration and recent fieldwork: https://lnkd.in/gEwVWxWk
Wild Earth Allies botanist Steven Brewer recently returned to Silk Grass Wildlife Preserve to continue research on “The Trees of Belize," a project we are supporting to inventory the biodiverse canopy of our first-growth rainforest. Here Steven is with Silk Grass Farms co-founder Peter Kjellerup discussing the anatomy of a plant specimen from the Belizian rainforest. This work will inform our conservation planning and rainforest management, a critical component of our commitment to developing a circular economy where agriculture and environment exist in harmony. As a B Corp, Silk Grass Farms has joined the global movement to elevate agriculture into an industry that provides high-quality employment and healthy food, while protecting natural resources. New sustainable enterprises are underway in Cameroon's Dja Biosphere Reserve. 🌱 In collaboration with our partner The African Conservation and Development Foundation (ACDEF), three community groups recently launched agricultural projects to grow cassava and plantains. These initiatives, designed and led by local community members, emphasize sustainable land use practices. We joined forces with ACDEF and 13 communities near the reserve to protect wildlife and improve livelihoods. Our collaborative efforts are starting to bear fruit, and there's so much more on the horizon!
