Tony Aaron is known by many as “Mr. Cedar Point.” People in Sandusky, Ohio, stop his colleagues in the store or local bank to ask about him. Park guests cruise the midway hoping to see him wearing his trademark white pressed shirt, checking in at Cedar Point’s restaurants and food stands. He appears to be everywhere at once, prompting one colleague to wonder if Aaron—a 33-year veteran of the park who now serves as director of food and beverage—has been cloned. “Tony really is an institution here. This man gets up every morning and gives his all to make Cedar Point a memorable place for our guests and our associates. For Christina Luna, coming to work each day at Knott’s Berry Farm in southern California is an opportunity to make a difference, whether it’s with a colleague who needs a boost or a guest whose happiness meter hasn’t quite peaked yet.    “My number one priority is ensuring that I'm providing the support and resources that our associates need to be successful for the day, that our operations are running efficiently and safely, and that our associates and guests are having a fun experience,” said Luna, ride operations manager for Knott’s. It’s that laser focus on her day-to-day job that led to Luna earning a 2024 Cedar Fair Soul Award, given annually to associates who consistently go above and beyond in making people happy and contributing to Cedar Fair’s mission of creating better FUN for a better world. Now in its third year, the Soul Award is the highest achievement presented to associates. “My favorite thing about Christina is that ‘the Farm’ is in her heart. And she just loves what we do for our guests here,” said Jon Storbeck, vice president and general manager at Knott’s. “She loves seeing people grow. She loves challenging the team to provide an even better rides experience than we're providing now. Jill Emery might be the “Energizer bunny” of Michigan’s Adventure. Spend a few minutes with any of her colleagues and one of the first things they talk about is the boundless energy and enthusiasm she brings to her job as manager of admissions and guest experience.  “She really inspires happiness,” says Camille Jourden-Mark, park vice president and general manager. “Jill makes whoever she is working with feel like there is no one more important than they are at that moment. Havoc could be breaking out and Jill is right in the middle of it to assure guests that it’s going to be the best day possible.” That commitment to making people happy – whether by staying at the park well after closing time to retrieve a lost item for a guest, or giving heartfelt hugs and sending handwritten thank-you notes to her team members at the end of the season – earned Emery a 2024 Cedar Fair Soul Award. Now in its third year, the Soul Award is the highest achievement presented to associates. For Emery, who has held a variety of jobs at Michigan’s Adventure over the past 10 years, it’s a labor of love. “To me, it’s about giving your heart to what you do. It’s about showing up. It’s about giving your all. It’s caring about your guests and the people you work with. We’re a small park and we all have to work really hard and pull for each other. Today we announced the three winners of the 2024 Cedar Fair Soul Awards, celebrating those associates who best embody our vision, mission, purpose, essence and values – collectively known as The Soul of Cedar Fair. Now in its third year, the Soul Awards are the highest achievement presented to associates. The winners were chosen based on their actions to inspire happiness, act with integrity, champion inclusivity, and deliver on our mission of creating “Better FUN for a Better World.” It's worth noting that in the three years we have been celebrating the Soul Awards, there have been a total of nine winners -- and all have come from different Cedar Fair parks. Our 2024 Soul Award winners are: Jill Emery, Manager of Admissions and Guest Experience, Michigan’s Adventure. Colleagues say Jill inspires happiness by “making whoever she is working with feel like no one is more important than they are at that moment.” Christina Luna, Manager of Ride Operations, Knott’s Berry Farm. One of her colleagues told us there are guests who actively seek out Christina when they come to the park because she has impacted their experience in such a positive way. He’s known to many at the park, and in the community, as “Mr. Cedar Point,” a leader whose tireless commitment to excellence inspires everyone with whom he interacts. Today we announced the 65 winners of the 2024 Cedar Fair Purpose Awards, celebrating those associates across the organization who consistently go above and beyond to make people happy. The winners were selected from a record 977 nominations -- an incredible number for just the third year of our recognition program. Over the past few weeks, our parks and corporate offices have hosted celebrations for their local winners. There have been lots of cheers, hugs and applause for these associates, who have a wide variety of roles and very diverse backgrounds. But one thing they all share in common is the focus on doing whatever it takes to make people happy. Congratulations to all of our winners and nominees!

Cedar Fair’s purpose is to make people happy. We recently celebrated team members from our Charlotte office during a fun-filled event at Carowinds. Among the honorees was one associate on our entertainment team with an impressive 45 years of service to the company.
