Streaming Sports is a complex business — where innovation is thriving, with so much room to grow. In this expert panel, we discussed some of the keys to success: #️⃣ Numbers, data, analytics: These can be hard to come by and even harder to parse in a landscape of many walled gardens. Too bad! Whatever numbers you have should be used to make smart decisions. David Guinan explains well how Cowboy Channel uses numbers to focus its efforts where it will see the greatest gains. ⛹️♀️ Long term thinking can strengthen sports brands and businesses for where streaming is heading, beyond where it is today. For instance, Andreas Heyden shared that Dyn Media GmbH gives back a double digit percentage to youth sports — an investment in its current audience AND future talent! 🏟️ Is the future of sports streaming in collaboration? That’s the approach OneFootball is taking, as Yannick Manuel Ramcke explained how multiple leagues are coming together in Germany to create a better streaming experience for fans. The winner-take-all mindset has not yielded great results elsewhere. 🧣As moderator Carlo De Marchis repeatedly reminded us, retention is the most important KPI. The purely signup-driven strategy is in the past. Going forward, it’s all about loyalty, time spent and continuously delivering value. I agree that audiences will reward streamers focused on retention. Thanks again to Dan Rayburn and NAB Show for bringing us together for this great discussion. #streaming #media #technology
