People think they will beat the system using AI. That it's easier, saves time. I'm curious, does your #SEO use AI to write your website content? Do you think #Google doesn't know the difference between AI generated content and the real thing? It does. And in my opinion, Google prefers content written by a human. Not so great agencies blame the client when they get fired. Great agencies understand that almost 100% of the time, they are at fault too. Everyone loses clients for one reason or another. Yes, even great agencies. Great agencies seek to learn, to understand, to see how they can avoid whatever it was, in the future. Bad agencies point fingers, blame everyone but themselves, and can't find fault within. They make off boarding a pain in the ass. Losing clients sucks, but it's part of the game. You just hope it doesn't happen often. You should lose and off board clients as gracefully as you win and onboard them. As we know, the day you start working with a client, is the day you start losing them.

I just reviewed the top 10 DTC websites on Buyist, ranked by order volume and conversion rate. I figured the things they shared in common would be easy to see. I expected them to all do a really good job of showing the offer, the benefits, and other DTC fundamentals. A few of them didn't, though. If I make a brutally honest assessment of all 10, the single thing they ALL do is show the product being used. Real usage shots in real life. These brands averaged a 13.25% conversion rate last week, so maybe take a look at your own site to see if you're showing visitors your product being used in real life. Another worrying trend in ecommerce: Scammers copying your site, logo, collateral, then selling cheap knockoffs... —- Copycats are stepping up their attacks on small businesses. Sellers of products including merino socks and hummingbird feeders say they have lost customers to online scammers who use the legitimate business owners’ videos, logos and social-media posts to assume their identities and steer customers to cheap knockoffs or simply take their money. “We used to think you’d be targeted because you have a brand everywhere,” said Alastair Gray, director of anticounterfeiting for the International Trademark Association, a nonprofit that represents brand owners. “It now seems with the ease at which these criminals can replicate websites, they can cut and paste everything.” Technology has expanded the reach of even the smallest businesses, making it easy to court customers across the globe. But evolving technology has also boosted opportunities for copycats; ChatGPT and other advances in artificial intelligence make it easier to avoid language or spelling errors, often a signal of fraud. We, Growth Skills just won an SEO bid for one of the largest casino groups in the U.S. This made me think about what brands should expect from an SEO Audit and why I think we won. 💡 An SEO Audit is done when you are looking to fix your website, content or app. The goal is to improve keyword rankings, website traffic, leads and revenue; organically from search engines like Google or Bing. Your expectations of a SEO Audit should be the same as if you were taking your car to a mechanic. 🏎 If you take your car to the mechanic and they do an assessment and come back and say, "Welp this car is in terrible shape, here are all the things you need to fix.” with out helping you fix at least some of them, then you’d probably fire your mechanic. Same thing with your SEO agency and audit. If they are not helping you implement some of what they are recommending, then tell them to 404 it, meaning make like a page not found and disappear. 🤣 All jokes aside. You should not be repairing your own car. 🎓 Your SEO agency can’t implement everything, so your development team will have to implement some engineering related items. However, you need to make sure your SEO agency puts in some work. 💪 -New meta titles & descriptions -Internal links -Image alt text optimizing  -Blog article creation, optimization and publishing Are all some of the things they should be implementing. Finally, you should also, always include these two important KPIs for an SEO Audit: 1.Implement based on prioritization: Most SEO audits don’t improve performance because brands don’t implement the recommendations. Track implementation and results from them.  If your car mechanic told you your breaks needed changing, you’d probably let them change them. You won’t wait until after you crashed to implement that change. Same thing here. 2.Increase conversions Conversions should be top priority for an SEO Audit. If your team is just looking at keyword rankings and website traffic then they are not making you as much money as they could. They should be signing up to your offerings and buying your products so they can audit the path to purchase and check out flows. This will sound "duh" but a lot of new DTC brands don't realize it until it's too late. Invest in really good photography. The difference between a forgettable eCommerce site and one that gets the order (besides a good story, good marketing copy, and social proof) can come down to the quality of the creative assets. In a world of a million knock-offs and shoddy products, showing high-quality photographs of your actual product in the hands of real people in a genuine setting: big difference. We've never had a situation where we've had too many great photographs. The more the merrier. Approximately 80-90% of the traffic visiting your dispensary website won’t buy from you. At least, not initially. The mistake most dispensaries make is not setting up retargeting funnels to market to these visitors. Something as simple as placing a retargeting pixel with some programmatic spend and capturing their email through a pop-up, nurturing them through a communication flow can make a massive difference.
