Both young people of color and the adults who support them often are overwhelmed by violence and stress, factors that damage well-being, hope, and agency. Schools and youth serving institutions often struggle to support youth of color, and find it difficult to keep them hopeful, and engaged. The result is that millions of young people of color grow up hopeless and disengaged, without the tools they need to create schools and communities in which they can flourish. Show them the love and support they need to continue making a difference!

  • How to Leverage The Best Rates in Luxury Resorts

I am often asked how to secure the best available rates and my answer is always the same. Book your hotel first, then book your air! Most hotels set their short-term rate strategy around business that is already booked. Follow these simple tips when working with a hotels sales or reservations department and you may find yourself saving yourself (or your company) hundreds or even thousands of dollars based upon the type of hotel you are booking.

    1. To gain the best rate available, be prepared to demonstrate some flexibility with your travel dates. For group travel, most of the hotels in any destination have a preferred pattern or arrival and departure. If you follow the desired pattern you will save money. If your dates are not flexible, be prepared to pay a premium. As a rule of thumb, Sunday arrivals are will typically yield the best rates for group travel.

    2. After you receive your rate quote for your preferred days of travel, ask the sales or reservations professional if arriving a couple of days before or after your preferred dates will result in a lower rate. In most cases, hotels have pockets of unsold rooms and if you are willing to adjust your travel dates to meet those needs, you can obtain a lower rate and possibly even negotiate an upgrade if the resort does not anticipate selling out.

    3. Consider the time of year you wish to travel and stay away from special events and other high demand dates that compress availability in the destination you are heading to. You can check the web for sporting events and other area festivities that are expected to attract travelers. The law of supply and demand is followed in hotels just like any other purchase - the more demand there is for a product, the higher the price. Do you research and try and book travel around such events.

If you have any further questions or seek pricing advice, feel free to contact me. Safe Travels!
